Deputy Regional Minister "Arrested"

Security personnel on night patrol duties have arrested the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Mr Issah Ketekewu for breaking curfew in Tamale.

An eyewitness told the Ghana News Agency that members of a military patrol team stopped the Deputy Minister at about 0021 hours at 'Agric Ridge', a suburb of the town as he was escorting another vehicle. It took the Mr Ketekewu who did not have a curfew pass or an identity card several minutes to convince the soldiers that he was the deputy regional minister.

He was finally released after one of the soldiers identified him. A state of emergency was declared and curfew imposed on the Dagbon area following the murder of Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani and several others on March 27.
