Deputy Minister inspects Kasoa by-pass project

Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Adjei Mensah, has urged contractors constructing the 24-kilometre western by-pass at Kasoa to expedite action to enable work on the interchange in the Kasoa Township to take off.

The By-pass project which starts from Old Barrier at Bortianor junction, cuts through Kokrobite, Tuba, Nyanyano Kakraba to Sapato Junction, to link the Accra-Winneba Road is part of the Kasoa Interchange Project.

Mr. Mensah made the call when he paid a working visit to the project site in the company of Chief Director and some Engineers of the Ministry and the Urban Roads Director, to acquaint himself with the progress of works.

Dr. Nuhu Adams, Awutu-Senya East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) earlier welcomed the Minister and his entourage at Iron City where the construction of a bridge over Okulu River is on-going.

The MCE said when that bridge was completed, it would help people living in Kasoa Zongo and its environs, and those in Iron City reach each other without going through the Kasoa main road to Accra.

Giving his impressions on the project, the deputy minister said, it was an alternative solution to the road transport challenges in Awutu-Senya East, linking Winneba and Accra, and added that he was highly impressed about work so far done by the contractor, especially the construction of bridges over the Okulu River at Iron City and that at Nyanyano Kakraba which was almost at the completion stage.

He commended the contractor for good work done, and urged him to maintain the standard to enable him win other contracts in future.

Mr. Abass Awolu, Urban Roads Director took the Minister through the drawings of the Interchange Project and said as part of the project, two 12-classroom blocks, 12-unit class room blocks, one polyclinic with all accessories, mechanized bore-holes, and 13 local roads would be constructed, as well as a walk-over at Iron City.

Earlier in the day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya, Ms Hannah Tetteh, and other engineers of the Ministry inspected the Bawjiase road through Oberechire, linking Agona Swedru.

Nii Kweku Osadu the second, chief of Awutu Bawjiase, thanked the government for awarding the roads on contract and expressed the hope that the contractor would do a good job in order to prolong their life span.
