French-born Ghanaian defender Dennis Appiah provided an assist before conceding a penalty as Anderlecht defeated Sporting Lokeren 2-1 at the Daknamstadion in the Belgian Jupilar Pro League on Saturday.

The Purple and White lads shot into the lead in the 17th minute when Pieter Gerkens connected to a superb cross by Ghanaian right back Dennis Appiah.

Appiah's great work in the game was sullied when he conceded a penalty in the 28 minute after tucking the jersey of Tom De Sutter, and Ari Skulason stepped up to slot home the equalizer.

Anderlecht blushes were saved in the 52nd minute as on-loan Everton forward Henry Onyekuru powered home from a close range to hand his side the maximum points.

Appiah played full throttle but there was no sign of Emmanuel Nii Adjei Sowah in the Anderlecht set-up as he's still recovering from an abdominal strain.
