Delegates Missing At Konadu’s Campaign Launch

A survey conducted by the Daily Democrat after the campaign launch of the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings revealed that majority of party faithful present at the ceremony were not delegates but are members of the31st Dec women’s Movement and admirers of the former first lady. Madam Comfort Anobel, a member of the National Democratic Congress, Kaneshie branch who the Daily Democrat spoke to said she came to support the former first lady because she feels this is the first time a woman has come out to contest the presidency in the country.

Madam Linda Mettle, an NDC supporter resident in Accra disclosed to the Daily Democrat that she came to support the former first lady because she has the qualities and potential to lead as president of the country. Joseph Nunoo, an admirer of the former first lady told the Daily Democrat that he is not a delegate but he came to support the former first lady due to the confidence that when she takes over she will prosecute former ministers in the Kufuor administration.

Delali Essenu from the Volta Region told the daily Democrat that he is not a delegate but traveled all the way from the Volta Region to lend her support to the former first lady because the husband has been in power before and therefore with the experiences she gathered from the husband, she will be able to achieve something for the party

William Osei, a member of the NDC told the Daily Democrat that he came from Kumasi to support the former first lady. “I really admire her courage and boldness which I don’t think many women will be able to do. This woman is very strong and she is okay to do the job,” he stated.

Hajia Ramatu from Nima said she is not a delegate but decided to come and support the former first lady because she is a woman and therefore as woman, she has to support her to enable a woman occupy the high position of the president of Ghana.

“I think the time has come for women to give support to their fellow women to take the highest seat of the land to the benefit of all,” he stated. Emmanuel Yeboah from Brong Ahafo said he is a foot solder and feels Nana Konadu is the best person to implement the ideologies of the party and to move it forward adding, “I can see she is a very serious woman who has all it takes since she has been able to do a lot of things for women in the country.”
