Delay in CPP congress worries Ndoum - Aid

Aid to Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum, Kofi Asamoah Siaw has hinted that the CPP flag bearer aspirant is worried about the party¹s delay in organizing the presidential primaries to elect the party¹s flag bearer.

He said though Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum has been campaigning for sometime now, the CPP¹s delay in electing a flag bearer is making his efforts to sell his ideas to Ghanaians difficult.

Kofi Asamoah stressed that Dr. Ndoum has been selling his ideas for a better Ghana to Ghanaians but added that his campaign would be easier and more effective if he was selling the CPP¹s ideas as well.

He intimated that Dr. Ndoum wants an early congress because it is in accordance with the party¹s constitution provisions.

He also said whoever emerges the winner of the congress would have enough time to sell his ideas and that of the party¹s to the electorates.

³Dr. Ndoum would like to have an early congress because of two things. One, it conforms to the constitutional provisions and two, it is in the interest of any presidential candidate who will be elected at congress to have been elected earlier so that they will have twelve months or more to get your message to the electorates.²

Kofi Siaw explained that regardless of who wins the party¹s presidential primaries, he would have adequate time to convince the electorates of the party¹s ideas.

He said the NPP and NDC have long elected their flag bearers and as such have started their campaigns; selling their plans and agendas to the Ghanaian electorates and as such wondered why the CPP was delaying in electing their flag bearer.

Kofi Asamoah Siaw intimated that Dr. Ndoum¹s 2012 campaign launch is a long term effort by his campaign team to set the ball rolling before the presidential primaries are conducted adding that Dr. Ndoum¹s victory in the primaries is ³a forgone conclusion².

He opined that it was not after the primaries that one would start a campaign train but rather, plans should be far advanced even before the primaries; a move he said Dr. Ndoum has taken.

³What we actually did was to launch a presidential campaign in election 2012 hoping that in the event that the CPP primaries are conducted he would contest that one, win it, become their presidential candidate and link it. So it was kind of a long term projection. But let me also assure you that if today elections were conducted in the CPP, as for Dr. Ndoum becoming the flag bearer or getting elected, it¹s a forgone conclusion but then he¹s a man for competition; he wants competition. If he doesn¹t become the flag bearer, he¹ll remain a member of the CPP and give support to the party to seek political power and get it in 2012.²

³Šit is not after you have won the presidential primaries that you put in place modalities to propagate the bigger agenda for election 2012. So you link the two together and that is what he sought to do when he launched the presidential bid².

He debunked the notion that Dr. Ndoum was campaigning as the CPP presidential candidate asking in what capacity Dr. Ndoum would be campaigning.

He again stressed that Dr. Ndoum was campaigning as an individual and not as the CPP flag bearer since that would be illegitimate considering the fact that the party has not had its presidential primaries.
