Deputy Minister of Defence, Brogya Genfi, says all personnel responsible for the screening process during the recent military recruitment exercise have been asked to step aside while investigations into the tragic stampede are carried out.
In a post shared on X by Edem Agbana on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Genfi stated that the directive is part of measures to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry into the incident.
"All personnel responsible for the screening process during the military recruitment have been asked to step aside while official investigations into the stampede are conducted,” the statement said.

The Deputy Minister added that the Ministry is working closely with relevant security and investigative bodies to identify what went wrong during the exercise held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
He further assured the public that appropriate sanctions will be taken against anyone found culpable, stressing that the Ministry is committed to preventing a recurrence of such tragedies in future recruitment exercises.
The recruitment exercise on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, left six people dead and 28 others injured.
