Death on Accra-Cape Coast Road Again

...Two killed in accident at Apam Junction

Apam, May 14, GNA - Two persons died on the spot and several others were injured when three vehicles were involved in an accident near Apam Junction on Monday morning.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Asare Baffour, the Apam District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that a State Transport bus from Accra heading towards Takoradi and an articulator truck heading towards Accra collided, forcing a passenger bus following the bus to ran into it.

He said most of the injured had been taken to the Winneba Government and the Apam Catholic hospitals.

Mr Baffour said the bodies have been deposited at the Apam Catholic hospital mortuary and police are investigating the cause of the accident.

An accident at Gomoa Okyereko near Winneba last Friday involving seven vehicles claimed 41 lives and people in Winneba have expressed concern about the spate of accidents on the Apam/Winneba road. They appealed to the police to step up patrol on the rehabilitated Mankessim/Accra road.
