"Dark Forces" At Osu Castle

MEMBERS OF the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR) have attributed the unfolding negative developments in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to what they described as “dark forces” at Osu Castle, the seat of government.

Ernest Owusu-Bempah, Operations Director of FONKAR, a support group for Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and his colleagues blame the Ahwoi brothers, Kwamena, Ato and Kwesi for the current trend claiming “the President is not in charge and we have to make it clear for Ghanaians to know because we won’t sit down for this to go on.”

He spoke about the persistent attacks on Mrs Rawlings, former First Lady and wife of NDC founder Jerry John Rawlings and members of FONKAR by people in their own party.

“Those people who are perpetuating the CPP ideology in the NDC, thinking that they belong to the Nkrumahist family should leave the party for the founder and the wife and his followers. If they want to go, they can go. I am talking about the Ahwois and Allotey Jacobs and those CPP elements that are in the party. They have no business in the NDC and are destroying Rawlings’ legacy,” he told DAILY GUIDE after Mrs Rawlings was virtually prevented from meeting party faithful in the Central Region last weekend.

“Their mindset is to destroy the NDC and make sure they revive the CPP; it’s a fact,” he alleged claiming “there are dark forces that are behind the scenes pulling the strings from the seat of government and if I’m talking about the dark forces, I’m talking about the Ahwoi brothers. These are the people who want to destroy the Jerry Rawlings legacy and make sure they push the NDC into opposition and revive the CPP.”

“That is what they want to do because they have come out clearly based on the wikileaks report that Hannah Tetteh gave and have told the whole world that they have an agenda and the agenda is they are going to make sure that the Rawlings ideology will be pushed aside and push ahead to make sure they revive the CPP. It is clear that all these things they are doing is not something new,” he continued.

“It’s something that they have diabolically planned to destroy the Rawlings family and all we are saying is that we will match them boot for boot and make sure that we expose them and all their evil machinations that they have. We will crumble them and the political chess game they are playing with us.”

According to him, it was this same “dark force” that hijacked the recent delegates’ congress of the NDC which re-elected President Mills as flag bearer for the 2012 general elections, accusing them of allegedly paying huge sums of money to delegates for them to vote against their will and conscience.

Apart from that, he said they have resorted to use of the security agencies to harass him and his colleague FONKAR members coupled with threatening text messages.

“A lot has been going on but we don’t want to go out and say all these things in the name of party unity. But it looks as if a certain group of people who I call the dark forces…want to use any ways and means to make sure they destroy the NDC,” he told the paper noting that the party’s structures at the constituency level had virtually collapsed whilst the foot soldiers are suffering.
