Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Sector Reforms, Thomas Kusi Boafo has condemned the actions of vigilante groups affiliated to political parties in the country.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s ‘kokrokoo’ programme, Mr. Kusi Boafo wondered why political parties would encourage the formation of groups which call themselves vigilante groups but their actions show otherwise.

To him, the hooliganism of these groups have a rippling effect on the progress of the economy and should be discouraged in order to maintain peace and order.

Recounting how these vigilante groups behave, Mr. Kusi Boafo noted that the groups are very strategic and would use any means to achieve their goals.

He blamed the political parties for the behaviour of the groups because, according to him, it is unnecessary to keep empowering them.

According to the Public Sector Reforms CEO, since the groups know that they have the backing of the government or a political party, they keep perpetuating violence.

He believed the political parties can help disband the groups and so called on the leaders to address the issue as it is a major concern to the nation.
