A vigil was held at the Christ the King Parish in Accra on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in honour of Dr Edward Omane Boamah. It almost turned into a 'weeping night' when the children of the late defence minister mounted the podium and paid a heartfelt tribute to their beloved father.
With heavy hearts, they described him as a guiding light whose love, compassion, and values shaped their lives.
The children recalled that their father never missed their special moments, as his fatherly love remained the warmth that filled their home.
They eulogised his kind love for them, saying, "Your love was steady, your love was gentle, and it was the warmth that filled our home."
Even when his busy schedules as the defence minister and professional medical doctor kept him engaged and busy from home, they said, "You called us every day when you travelled."
They remembered his words of wisdom: "Compassion is strength, truth is an obligation, and service to others is the greatest legacy." His teachings instilled in them the importance of staying grounded while dreaming big.
With grief, they asked, "Daddy, why did you leave us so soon? Never in a million years would we have imagined this. Who will we call in the middle of the night when we have questions? Who will have the answers?"
Their voices cracked as they gave a testimony of their late father's true fatherhood qualities, saying, "You are irreplaceable, Edwardo."
