DPP to sue NPP

Accra (Greater Accra) Mr. Daniel Markin Chairman of the Democratic People's Party (DPP) on Monday threatened to sue the flag bearer of the NPP, Mr. John Agyekum Kufour.

Mr. Kufour is alleged to have said at the party's congress at Ho that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) used state funds to acquire 200 vehicles for this year's electioneering campaign. Mr. Markin was speaking at the party's extra-ordinary national delegates and expanded executive committee meeting in Accra to state the party's status on the presidential candidature of the progressive alliance.

He said, Mr. Kufour and others who aspire to the highest office of the land must not make unsubstantiated statements on political platform to score political points, adding that the DPP and for that matter the electorate would hold them accountable on every statement.

Mr. Markin said, "we call on Mr. Kufuor to retract the statement, else we dare him to come out with facts. If he does not do so within one week we would be compelled to seek redress from the court on the ground of lying or perjury."

The DPP reaffirmed its commitment to the progressive alliance, its flag bearer Professor John Evans Atta Mills and his running mate Mr. Martin Amidu.

A resolution at the end of the meeting, in line with the party's constitution, endorsed all the progressive alliance candidates who will stand on the ticket of the NDC in the December 7 general election.
