DFP elects parliamentary aspirant for Wa Central

Wa, Oct. 13, GNA - Mr Ibrahim Yussif, a 55 year old teacher was on Sunday elected unopposed to contest the Wa Central seat as a parliamentary aspirant for the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP). The election of Mr Yussif brings to six the number of parliamentary candidates that the DFP had elected to contest elections, out of the 10 constituencies in the Upper West Region. The DFP would be contesting for parliamentary seats in the Lawra/Nandom, Nadowli East, Nadowli West, Lambussie and Sissala West constituencies.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Yussif thanked the delegates for electing him and called for co-operation and hard work of all party supporters to win the Wa Central seat for the DFP. Mr Kwame Mumuni, Upper West Regional Chairman of the DFP said he was confident that the DFP would win some seats in the region and urged the supporters to give their maximum support to the candidates that were contesting the elections in the constituencies. He appealed to supporters of the DFP to conduct themselves appropriately to win the sympathy of floating voters in the December 7 polls.

Alhaji Seidu Sumailia, a founding member of the party called on Ghanaians not to vote for both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) saying: "the two parties were tired and blinded in their visions to manage the country". He said unemployment had become a major problem for the country and both the NPP and NDC had failed to solve it in their tenure of office.

He therefore urged Ghanaians to give their mandate to the DFP, which he said has competent people with brilliant ideas to move the development of the country forward.

An 11-member executive committee for the Wa Central Constituency of the DFP was inducted to office for a two year term. It has Mr Abdul Razak Saeed as its Chairman, Mr Mariwan Daud, Vice Chairman, Mr Yussifu Abdul Aziz, Secretary and Madam Issah Munat as Women Organiser among others. 13 Oct. 08
