DCE wins Upper West Akyem NDC primaries

The District Chief Executive of Upper West Akyem in the Eastern region Derrick Bekoe Ohene Assifo has emerged victorious in the ruling NDC’s parliamentary primaries in the area today.

Provisional results puts Ohene Assifo at 3,954 votes as against his contender Francis Kenney Teye’s 2,735 votes. The defeated Teye is also the presiding member of the assembly.

Starr News' Kojo Ansah who monitored the election reports that counting was done without any controversies.

The election became necessary after the already elected parliamentary candidate Joseph Sam Amankwanor decided to withdraw from the 2016 elections due to “personal reasons”.

He defeated the now victorious candidate in the ruling party’s earlier primaries held in November last year.
