The chief of Nyinahin, Nana Amanpene II, has taken a swipe at the DCE of the Atwima Mponua District, Williams Darkoh for mobilizing the youth of the area to stampede the activities of EXTON CUBIC LTD.
William Darkoh rallied the youth of the area to fight EXTON CUBIC for illegally mining bauxite in the area. Vehicles and other materials used by EXTON Cubic were ceased by the DCE and the youth of the community.
But speaking on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, the Chief said EXTON CUBIC has the backing of the community to engage in Bauxite prospecting within the Tano-Offin Forest Reserve.
He stated that all the 3 stools in whose traditional jurisdiction the bauxite concession is situated are fully aware of the legal processes that commenced four years ago.
He expressed shock at the stance of the DCE adding that he could have contacted him if he had any problem with the existence of the company in the area.
Nana AMANPENE urged the youth of the area to exercise restraint as they finalize negotiations with EXTON CUBIC to ensure full scale operations
He said Exton Cubic has not commenced actual mining of bauxite in the area and expressed the hope that the exploitation of Bauxite in the Tano-Offin forest reserve will create employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth and also ensure rapid development of the area in the near future.
On his part the Public Relations Officer of the company, Samuel Gyamfi indicated that he is shocked with the stance of the Ashanti regional Minister and the DCE indicating the EXTON Cubic is not in the area to mine illegally but has the backing of the chief and leaders of the community.
He was hopeful that their coming into the community will create employment for the teeming youth of the area and also help boom the economy of the community.
