DCE confirmed amidst controversies

In spite of the high uncertainties that surrounded his confirmation, the President’s nominee for Mamprugu Moagduri District of the Northern Region, Abu Adam received a 100% endorsement as District Chief Executive (DCE).

The Assembly which was perceived to be dominated by members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) gave an outright endorsement of 16 out of 16 votes representing 100%.

The election was officiated by the Northern Regional Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission (EC) Mr Emmanuel Abeam Danso. It was preceded by the election of a Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly, Hon Musah Damba who stood unopposed. He also received 100% endorsement from the assembly members.

Present at the confirmation were the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed, his Deputy Solomon Boar, the Member of Parliament for Yagaba-Kubori, Tanko Abdul Rauf and Mustapha Yussif, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), the Ambassador designate for Guinea Conakry and Alhaji Abdul Rashid Salifu (COP) as well as the Northern Regional NADMO Coordinator, Alhaji Abdulai Hindu.

In his acceptance remarks, the new DCE, Abu Adam commended the President, the Northern Regional Executives of the NPP and the Assembly members for reposing a high level of trust in him to lead the people of the Mamprugu Moagduri District.

According to him, the district which is in its formative stage required very aggressive and tactical approach to ensure the needed transformation of the area. Mr. Abu Adam said his major priority in the first one year is to secure deserving accommodation for all staff of decentralized departments and agencies to enable them to stay in the district.

The DCE also promised to tackle the falling standard of education, improve on quality healthcare delivery, road network, agriculture and human empowerment.

He assured of working with the members and other stakeholders to identify challenges hampering the progress of the district for redress to create job opportunities to alleviate poverty.

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed congratulated the DCE on his confirmation and charged him to work with all the people in the district.

He reminded him of the daunting task ahead of him in ensuring the smooth implementation of government policies and programmes.

He also admonished the members to put behind political differences to fight for the progress of the district since it was lacking behind in terms of development, for which the government was voted into power.
