The Graphic says the police are on the warpath against lawlessness and indiscipline. In the main front page story, the paper says the Inspector- General of Police, Mr Peter Nanfuri, has called for a halt to acts of lawlessness and indiscipline in the name of constitutional freedom. Mr Nanfuri told a press conference in Accra yesterday that the Police Administration is appalled by the use of constitutional freedom to commit crimes and run riot in the country. He said "surveying the national political and social scene today, one is almost tempted to think that far from the constitution guaranteeing our freedom, it has rather become the excuse for lawlessness and indiscipline". Mr Nanfuri drew attention to the spate of crimes from burglarly to bomb scares which, according to him, are being rationalised in the name of constitutionality. GRi
