Some customers expressed worried and called for government intervention Some customers expressed worried and called for government intervention

Some customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), who use prepaid metres, stormed various ECG offices in some parts of the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday, 6 December to buy prepaid credit following their inability to get refills from third-party vendors.

As early as 3am, hundreds of the customers were seen at some ECG offices in long, winding queues waiting for their turn to purchase prepaid credit.

Some of the frustrated individuals told Accra100.5 FM’s Nana Amoako Gyampah that they have been unable to purchase prepaid credit from ECG for days.

They called for a government intervention to solve the prepaid credit problem.

Meanwhile, Head of Communications at ECG, William Boateng, has indicated that the challenge is due to server hitches and technical experts are working to restore the anomaly.
