Mr Godfried Adanuti, Volta Regional branch Manager of CUA who disclosed this to the GNA said the scheme was fashioned out to increase the capital base of petty traders towards attaining self-reliance. He said it is also to inculcate the culture of savings among members and to facilitate lending their own savings in times of need. Mr Adanuti said a similar support was extended to the Logba Dunenyo, Juapong community and teachers' and the Ho community credit unions.
He said its total asset rose to 1.2 billion cedis in the last five years with 450 members.
