The Judicial Service has finally installed hand sanitizers at the courts’ complex which houses over forty courts in Accra.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency to the court showed that staff of the service and Policemen are now directing court users to use the hand sanitizers before they undergo x-ray checks to enter the various courtrooms.

The GNA saw that three additional hand sanitizers have also been fixed at each of the six floors.

The GNA chanced on Mr. Tony Forson, President of the Ghana Bar Association, who took turns to inspect sanitizers as well as sit through some trials at the various courts.

The GNA observed there were few people in the various courtrooms and there were no remand prisons at the courts.

On March 16, this year, a statement from the Office of the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah assured the public that “sanitizers were being provided for court users and arrangement are being made to have the courtrooms regularly disinfected.”

Judges and Magistrates were also directed by the Chief Justice to “only hear cases which are of extreme urgency and exercise great restraint in remanding accused persons, in order to avoid overcrowding the prisons and police cells.”
