Court remands six suspected armed robbers

Six suspected armed robbers, who allegedly raided the house of a purchasing clerk (PC) of Federated Commodities, a licensed cocoa buying company and made off with unspecified amount of money, have been remanded into prison custody by the Bibiani Circuit Court.

The money was meant for the purchase of cocoa from farmers at Addaikrom-Brahabebome Number Two in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District of the Western Region

Ernest Boateng, the PC, had travelled to Kumasi, leaving behind his wife and kids on November 18, when the robbers struck.

The pleas of Issah Amadu, Kwabena Ackah, Daniel Sampe, Raymond Ali, Kwabena Gyan and Kwabena Nyamekye, were not taken.

They will make the next court appearance on Wednesday, December 4.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raymond Erzuah told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah that the six pulled out a locally manufactured gun at the wife of the PC, Naomi Asamoah, as they ransacked the house and took away the money.

The woman raised the alarm after they had left and a swift response by people in the community paid off, as they managed to arrest Amadu during a hot chase.

He gave out his other colleagues and they were all arrested.
