Court remands man over hard drugs

A 35-year-old man caught with large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana has been ordered by the Juaso Circuit Court to be held in prison remand.

Kwame Agyei has been charged with illegal possession of narcotics but pleaded not guilty.

He would make his next appearance on Wednesday, January 31.

Police Detective Sergeant Princeton Peasah Darkwah told the court, presided over by Mr. Yusif Assibey, that the accused was seized together with the dried leaves on January,3, 2018.

The police received a tip off that Agyei was carrying the psychoactive drug on a VIP bus and moved to arrest him immediately he came down from the bus at Asankare at about 0230 hours.

The dried leaves, compressed in 21 parcels had been concealed in a black travelling bag owned by the suspect.

He mentioned one “Oboy” at Wankyi, near Asankare, as his source of supply.
