Information available to GhanaWeb indicates that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has reduced the bail conditions of former GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited Chief Executive Officer, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, from GH¢65 million to GH¢30 million as investigations into alleged financial improprieties continue.

Despite the reduction in the bail amount, the court imposed stricter conditions, requiring Kofi Jumah to provide three justified sureties instead of the two initially requested by EOCO.

The former GIHOC boss has also been directed to report monthly, in addition to honouring any appearances requested by EOCO investigators as part of the ongoing probe.

The court further ordered Kofi Jumah to surrender both his Ghanaian and American passports pending the conclusion of investigations.

The latest development comes amid reports that Kofi Jumah was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, a situation said to have delayed efforts to fulfil his bail conditions.

According to the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh, Kofi Jumah’s condition required urgent medical attention.

Kofi Jumah was initially granted police enquiry bail on April 29, 2026, following his arrest during a raid on his Kumasi residence by EOCO operatives investigating alleged breaches of public financial management regulations during his tenure at GIHOC Distilleries.

Authorities are yet to publicly disclose the specific allegations against the former CEO, while investigations remain ongoing.
