Court orders man to be held in prison over cocaine

An unemployed man caught with 93 wraps of whitish substance, suspected to be cocaine, has been ordered by the Juaso Circuit Court to be held in prison remand.

Yaw Kyei has been charged with possessing narcotic drug without lawful authority and he pleaded not guilty.

He would make his next appearance on Wednesday, February 21.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Birikorang Peasah, told the court, presided over by Mr. Yusif Asibey, that the accused was arrested on January 24, in Konongo.

He said this was based upon a tip off and a search conducted in his room uncovered the 93 wraps of the hard drug.

Kyei in his caution statement admitted ownership of the substance
