Court orders docket on late Dr Ahmed's wife to be sent to Attorney- General

***** Accra (Greater Accra), 19 Nov. 1998 - A circuit tribunal in Accra today ordered that the docket on the case involving Leila Kafui Ahmed, wife of the late Dr Abu Ahmed, former managing director of Bank for Housing and Construction, be sent to the Attorney-General's office for advice. The tribunal made the order when Leila and Olou Roland, a herbalist from Benin, appeared before it on a charge of preparation to commit murder. They pleaded not guilty and each was granted 200,000 cedis bail. Another accomplice, Oloukoi Claude, also a herbalist from Benin charged with the same offence, is at large. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Elizabeth Allandu, said sometime last June, Leila contracted Claude and Roland to pray for her protection. While the Beninois were with her, Leila gave them a photograph of Madam Umu Rashid, who she (Leila) alleged was a girlfriend of her late husband, and asked them to say prayers against her. The prosecution said on November 10, this year, the two herbalists went to the house of Madam Rashid but met her mother who, out of suspicion, caused her daughter to be phoned to come home with policemen. Madam Rashid and the two policemen went home and arrested the two herbalists, who said it was Leila who gave them the photograph and directed them to her house.
