Court or No Court, we have a campaign to prosecute – Nduom

Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom appears undaunted by the action of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) to drag it to the Supreme Court, saying that will not distract him from campaigning to be president.

He said already some detractors are going around telling voters that he has been disqualified and he, together with PPP’s parliamentary candidates, will not be on the ballot papers for the December 7 elections.

After the preliminary hearing of a review application filed by the EC, Dr Nduom told journalists that: “Court or no court, we have a campaign to prosecute”.

He said the PPP has already been to the Central Region and returned from the Volta Region, where it has been vigorously campaigning.

The 2008 and 2012 presidential candidate said they will return to the Central Region, his home region, before moving to the Brong Ahafo Region, and later to the Northern and upper regions, to campaign unabatedly.

“The campaign is on,” he stressed on Wednesday, November 2. Though an Accra High Court last Friday ruled in its favour over the disqualification of its flagbearer, the PPP was on Monday dragged to the Supreme Court by the EC, which felt strongly about Justice Kyei Baffour’s judgment.

The party, founded in 2012, has been ordered to file a statement of case on Thursday for hearing to begin on Friday.
