Sekondi May 6, GNA - A Sekondi District Magistrates' Court on Thursday fined four Trotro drivers one million cedis each for picking passengers at unauthorised parking places at the Takoradi Central Business District.

The accused, James Archer, John Quansah, Frederick Nyarko and Ekow Aryeetey, pleaded guilty to the charge.

They would, in default of the fine serve eight months imprisonment in hard labour.

Prosecuting, Inspector Opoku Gyimah of Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Guard, said on April 29 this year, the Metropolitan Task Force mounted an operation to decongest the Takoradi Business Centre. He said the accused were caught picking passengers at unauthorised points in the area in contravention of the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly bye-law.
