The High Court in Accra has reportedly admitted into evidence the bank statements of embattled former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, in his ongoing trial.
According to a report by Accra-based TV3, the new evidence is the statements of the UMB bank account of Adu-Boahene, who, together with his wife, has been accused of illegally transferring about GH¢49 million of NSB funds into their personal accounts.
The report indicated that the said bank account statements were initially omitted, even though it did not indicate the party that submitted them as evidence or the party which omitted them.
“The High Court has officially admitted into evidence the UMB bank statements of Kwabena Adu Boahene, which were previously described as ‘omitted’,” the media house wrote in a post shared on X on March 17, 2026.
It can be recalled that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine Akuritinga, accused Adu-Boahene of transferring $7 million (GH¢49 million) into his personal UMB account.
The Attorney General alleges that Adu Boahene, while serving as Director of the NSB, signed a $7 million contract on January 30, 2020, with RLC Holdings Limited, an Israeli company, for the purchase of cyber defence system software.

"Instead of paying the full amount to the intended vendor, only $1.75 million was transferred. The remaining GH¢39.5 million (approx. $5.25 million) was diverted to BNC Communications Bureau Limited, a private company owned by the couple.
"On February 6, 2020, he then transferred an initial amount of GH¢271 million from the NSB account at Fidelity Bank to a private BNC account at UMB. Official documentation on the transfer reveals that the amount was for the payment of cyber defence system software. He transferred the money to his private company," Dr Ayine stated at the press briefing.
GhanaWeb cannot confirm if the bank statements, which have now been tendered into evidence, are from the same account the Attorney General made reference to.
Meanwhile, Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah, a prosecution witness in the ongoing trial, has confirmed that Adu-Boahene pre-financed some of the operations of the bureau.
She stated in open court that pre-financing of National Security operations was routine and part of established practices within the National Security apparatus, classonline.com reports.
Ruby Opokua Adumuah, who is Head of Finance at the NSB, reportedly gave detailed testimony under cross-examination by lead defence counsel Samuel Atta Akyea at the Accra High Court (Criminal Court 3) on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, explaining how Special Operations funds were managed and applied.
