Council of State member calls for rekindling of communal spirit

Gomoa Dasum (C/R), June 9, GNA - A Council of State member, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, has appealed to Ghanaians to rekindle communal spirit to support government's 93Better Ghana Agenda."

Daasebre Ewusi, the Paramount Chief of Abeadze Dominase and the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, said the government could not do it alone but would need the support of the people in realizing the "Better Ghana Agenda."

Speaking at a Gomoa Agyempim Traditional Council meeting at Gomoa Dasum, he commended the Paramount Chief of Gomoa Akyempim, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, for maintaining peace in the traditional area.

Mr Kow Okyere Panyin, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, urged the media to report on things that would promote development of the society but not what destroys it.

Nana Obokomatta IX, Chief of Dasum, appealed for a market in the town to decongest the market at Kasoa.

He said a plot of land had been acquired for the project and appealed to the Gomoa East District Assembly to consider the project.

Nana Obokomatta repeated his appeal to the government and the United Nations High Commission for Refuges to pay royalty on Buduburam which had been acquired as a refugee camp since 1982 for Liberian refugees.

He expressed concern about the silence of the government and UNHCR on payment of royalty to the land owners even though the acquisition of the land had caused the people inconvenience.

Obrifo Ahor Ankobea appealed to the government to change the name of the water treatment plant being constructed at Gomoa Antseadze from Essarkyir Water System to 93Antseadze Water System" to reflect the owner= ship of the land.
