"Correct me when I am wrong" - President tells Council of State

President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday called on members of the Council of State not to hesitate to point out his mistakes in the course of his duties as President of the Republic .

“The responsibility is heavy and I need to be in constant touch with people like you, who have wide range of ideas to enable me to continue with the good work late President Mills started,” he added.

President Mahama made this call when members of the Council of State called on him at the Castle, Osu.

The members were at the castle to commiserate with him for the death of President John Evans Atta Mills and to also congratulate him for taking up the highest office as President.

Some of the Council Members included Professor Kofi Awoonor, Naa Professor John Nabila, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, Alhaji Asuma Banda and Naa Seidu Braimah.

President Mahama called on them to extend the good relationship and frankness they had over the years demonstrated to President Mills to him to effectively carry out his constitutional mandate as President of the Republic.

He promised to embark on and complete all the projects that were initiated by late President Mills, adding “You are the only ones that can guide me efficiently to carry out this mandate in the coming months.”

Professor Kofi Awoonor, Chairman of the Council of State pledged the support of members and willingness to offer any advice that would be beneficial to the entire nation.

“I can on behalf of the Council of State promise you here that we as members will not let you down in your endeavours as President of the Republic."**
