Executive Pastor of the Christ Temple of the ICGC, Rev. Albert Ocran, has admonished Ghanaians to adopt a non-contact mode to appreciate one another.

Updating the congregants after service on Sunday, Rev. Ocran encouraged members of the International Central Gospel Church to practice the safety measures being circulated as well as use the sanitation systems put in place by the church.

He assured members that the ICGC was working closely with international and national response to put in place the appropriate protocols against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

“…sanitise your hands as you come in to church and as you go out of the church. Adequate provision has been made in that regard.

"Also, wash your hands with soap under running water frequently. It’s not too much, let’s do it over and over and let’s please observe the protocols of no handshakes and no hugging.” He stated

“Let’s use non-contact means of appreciating each other, and I’m sure there are so many that you can use,” he added amidst smiling.

Hand sanitizers were placed at entry points and other vantage points as part of protocol measures recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in limiting the spread of the COVID-19.

Several churches, as well as other institutions, have adopted the installation of sanitisers to help reduce the stain.

Ghana recently recorded its first two confirmed cases of the fast-spreading novel coronavirus. Two males, the Norwegian Ambassador to Ghana and a Ghanaian UN official returning from Turkey tested positive after showing signs of the disease.

Although they are currently isolated and stable, the Norwegian embassy as well as other foreign-based institutions have shut down their premises and urged their staff to work from home as a containment measure.

Health measures being propagated to prevent the spread of the pandemic include the following:
- Regularly and thoroughly cleaning of the hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or washing them with soap and running water.

- Maintaining at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance when coughing or sneezing as well as using a tissue to cover the nose and mouth, discarding after usage.

- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
