Coronavirus: Sports Ministry yet to receive proposal from Ghana FA to aid clubs - Kofi Asare Brako

The Special aide to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Asare Brako has debunked reports in the media that the Ghana Football Association has presented a proposal for clubs to benefit from the government's Covid-19 stimulus package.

According to him, there hasn’t been any official proposal from the Ghana Football Association to the Sports Ministry to that effect.

Speaking in an interview with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports, Kofi Asare Brako said, “there is nothing concrete on the table of the Sports Minister to help clubs.

“We have just heard on social media about the Ghana FA asking for government support. But that has not formally come to the desk of the Sports Minister”.

The coronavirus outbreak in the country which has led to the suspension of the 2019/20 Ghana League season has plunged a lot of clubs into financial crisis.

There have been talks in the media for players to reduce their wage bills to help sustain the clubs financially.

Some clubs have also called on the government for support.
