Four passengers onboard a commercial bus from Ghana’s capital city of Accra en route to Takoradi have been advised to self-quarantine due to high temperatures, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Health Director, Dr Kofi Sutherland has disclosed.

His revelation follows after an Emergency Response Team set up by the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah to screen people entering Takoradi from Kumasi and Accra after President Akufo Addo partially locked down Accra, Tema and Kumasi due to soaring cases of COVID 19 for two weeks.

The Western Region has been a safe destination for many who want to avoid the uncomfortable experience.

Both traditional and social media platforms were awashed with pleas to authorities to put in place measures to contain and manage the spread of the deadly disease from people who are entering the region.

On Sunday March 29, the Western Regional Emergency Response out of the blue mounted two checkpoints, one at Asemasa the community which play host to the toll both and the other at Inchaban barrier all to screen passengers and take their details.

Dr Sutherland told Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan that four people have temperatures running from 38.5 to 40 degrees celsius and have been advised to self-quarantine after taking their personal details.

“We have advised them to self-quarantine or isolate, their temperature were not normal, we have taken all their details and further asked them to seek medical attention, we will constantly check up on them till we come to the realisation that they are ok”, he said

The screening of the passengers at these two checkpoints was conducted by personnels including health professionals, NADMO, Security agencies among others.
Luckily for the Western Region, all eighteen (18) suspected COVID 19 cases sent for testing so far proved to be negative

Meanwhile, Magdalene Mensah, popularly know as Effe and cousin of Former President for MUSIGA , Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known in show biz as Obour has denied reports of harboring relatives who have been advised to self-quarantine in Accra and Kumasi in their family house in Takoradi.
