Coronavirus: Data collection does not require payment of money – GSS

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has said that the survey to track COVID-19 impact on households and jobs does not require the payment of money.

The GSS, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Bank (WB), will from 9th ? 20th June, 2020, conduct a “Households and Jobs Tracker” survey to track the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 on households and jobs.

In a statement, the Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, said the “topics to be covered in the tracker includes income loss, access to services, employment, coping strategies among others.”

He said, “results from the survey will inform policy directions in supporting the extremely poor and vulnerable households and safeguarding progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

Mr. Annim urged the general public to cooperate by giving out accurate information. He also urged the media to offer massive reportage to ensure the success of this national exercise.

He also assured households and individuals that information provided will not be disclosed to anyone or entity in any form, adding that, “the data collection does not require payment of money, and under no circumstance should anyone be required to pay any amount to any person.”
