Following the confirmation of Ghana’s first cases of the novel coronavirus, some Ghanaians have resorted to the power of social media to coerce government to close the country’s borders.

With a little over 1,000 individual petitions on Twitter, the hashtag, #closebordersnow is expected to garner more attention from both Ghanaians and government by reaching more people.

President Akufo-Akufo-Addo in his official address on the global pandemic indicated that an amount of $100m has been allocated to fight the virus.

He also announced a temporary ban on foreign travels for all public officials.
