The police has arrested three of four suspected armed robbers at Nungua in Accra and are on a manhunt for the escapee believed to be a police officer.

On 12, December 2017, four armed men wielding AK 47 assault rifles on board Toyota Corolla taxi cab with registration number GX 9514-13 attacked one Madam Hellen Asante of Asante Supermarket near Agricultural Development Bank at Nungua and robbed her of cash to the sum of GHS45,000 amidst sporadic firing and bolted with the booty.

Police quickly gave the suspects a chase and arrested them at Abatoir Police Snap Check Point but one of them managed to escape.

An amount of GHS19,500 and $600, a pistol with six rounds of ammunition were retrieved from the suspects whose names have been given as; Ibrahim Ayirebo, Bright Dorkanu and Stanley Akorli whilst the fourth suspect whose name was given by them as Raymond Amegashie, alleged to be a police officer at Tema Community One Police Station, escaped with unspecified amount or money and two AK 47 rifles.

Efforts are underway to get him arrested.
