Contribute to the running of CP - members told

Suhum, (E/R) April 4, GNA - Mr. Mike Eghan, Vice-Chairman of the Convention Party (CP) on Saturday, called on members to contribute towards the running of the party to prevent a few rich individuals from dominating and determining its destiny.

Speaking at a CP meeting at Suhum, he said every member has a stake in the fortunes of the party and stressed the need for them to be involved in organising and winning more people into it.

He reminded them of the axiom that "the party is supreme" and said they should bury their individual interest for the collective good of the party. The Chairman of the Publicity Committee, Mr. Kwesi Pratt pointed out that there is no political party in the world, which has not had internal problems and said that members should not to be deterred about wrangling among some members of the leadership.

He said the party has programmes to deliver Ghanaians from their current hardships and urged delegates who would be attending the party's forthcoming national congress to elect only those who could lead CP to victory in the general elections.

An aspiring national chairman, Dr. Abubakari Alhassan, said as an offspring of the Convention People's Party (CPP), CP's manifesto has "people-centred" policies and programmes it would implement when it wins power.

He said since the country's greatest asset is its human resource, the party like CPP would ensure that education and health are within the reach of all Ghanaians.

The Eastern Regional Vice-Chairman, Nana Owusu Sekyere, asked those hiding behind CP membership to destabilise the party to stop or be exposed and dealt with.
