Confusion rocks in Agona West NPP

Agona Nyakrom, Dec 15, GNA - Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, MP for Agona West, has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party to ensure resounding victory in next year's general election.

Speaking at a meeting with 76 out of the 105 polling station chairmen in the Agona West constituency at Agona Nyakrom on Sunday, he urged them to be extra vigilant and to eschew disunity and confusion, which did not augur well for the NPP.

The MP expressed his sentiment when it become known that the Constituency Chairman, Mr Adofo Dwamena, had also extended an invitation to the polling station chairmen to another meeting at his residence at Swedru at the same time.

According to Mr Obodai, the Chairman sent an invitation letter to his house at Nyakrom to attend the meeting and advised the activists to remain loyal and not to sell their democratic right to give their mandate to the one they choose to represent them.

He recalled the statement by the National Executive Council that all constituencies with sitting MPs should hold primaries in June next year.

When the GNA contacted Mr Adofo Dwamena, he denied inviting the party functionaries to a meeting at the same time the MP had called one. He said, however, that under the constitution of the party, it was the Chairman who had the right to summon meetings and not the MP.
