There is currently an uneasy calm at the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) after the Council Chairman, Devine Kpetigo, moments ago sacked the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa.

MyNewsGh.com reporters indicate that an emergency meeting was convened for deliberation of a new VC, and Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa was barred from attending, which has reportedly heightened tension in the already volatile situation.

The VC, our sources reveal, defied the order and stormed the council chamber, prompting the Chairman to invite some armed police personnel to throw him out, resulting in a standoff.

There is a heightened police presence at the institution, with armed police patrols on the campus, as heated exchanges were heard coming from the Council Chamber.
