Confusion! Biometric register not in alphabetical order

Reports reaching XYZ NEWS indicates that the booklet containing names of registered voters does not follow an alphabetical order; a day after the exhibition of the voters’ register began.

XYZ NEWS learnt that electoral officers are finding it difficult to identify names of registered voters in some centres in the Eastern Region.

The centres have also recorded very low turnout. XYZ News’ Eastern regional correspondent, Bennett Yaovi, reported that there process in the 2,226 exhibition centres in the region is yet to see a high patronage from residents.

Meanwhile prospective voters in the Tamale Couth Constituency are also facing similar problems.

XYZ NEWS spoke to some prospective voters whose names have been omitted from the provisional biometric voters register. They say no explanation has been given to them yet by the EC officials.

It is not clear if such names are part of the double and multiple registrants whose names are being withheld pending investigations by the EC.
