Confusion At Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

Nurses at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital are on a collision course with management of the hospital, this time round over the mode of payment of their agreed extra duty hours? allowances.

The nurses on Tuesday embarked on a peaceful demonstration to present a resolution to management on the use of a Form B to correct the ambiguities inherent in the Form A.

The forms A and B contain a record of all the extra duty working hours of the nurses.

According to the aggrieved nurses, management of the hospital rejected the use of the Form B when the September inputs were submitted to it.

Management has however decided to redesign a new form for the calculation of the extra duty allowances of the nurses but the nurses consider the redesigning of a new form inappropriate as it might delay the payment of their October inputs.

The Public Relations Officer of the Korle Bu branch of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA), Mr. Kwasi Servor told JoyNews said the nurses consider the new form inappropraite.

"If they want to start using the form A, there is still going to be ambiguities in the preparation of the ADHA. They must stick to the Form B because that is what is used to pay nurses in the government hospitals", he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Nursing at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital told JoyNews that the problem is with the nurses since they have refused to complete the accepted forms to facilitate the payment of their allowances.

Mrs. Grace Barnes intimated that though management is yet to decide on the next line of action, payment could not be made without the completion of the forms.
