Computer Consultant granted 40 Million cedis bail for fraud.

Takoradi, April 16 - GNA-A Takoradi Circuit Court on Friday granted Miran Bonaka, 54, a national of Slovenia, 40 million cedis bail for fraud.

He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on May 13. The Police prosecutor, Chief Inspector Joseph Hedidor told the court that the accused, who is a computer consultant lives in Accra. He said in November 2004, Bonaka visited some friends in Takoradi and met Ben Agyarkwa and Anthony Hayford whom he promised to assist to travel to Germany.

Inspector Hedidor said based on this, Agyarkwa paid 19 million cedis while Hayford paid 17 million cedis as part payments for the processing of their work permit and visas to Bonaka.

The prosecutor said as soon as Bonaka collected the monies, he went back to Accra and could not be traced but on March 1 2005, when he came to visit another friend in Takoradi, he was arrested and handed over to the Police.
