Several commuters have been stranded after severe flooding cut off the Winneba–Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region halting traffic movement along the busy stretch.

Rising floodwaters following heavy rains on June 29, 2026, have submerged key sections of the road, making it impossible for vehicles to cross in both directions.

Reports indicate that motorists and passengers are stuck on either side of the affected area, waiting for water levels to recede.

The situation has brought transport activity along the corridor to a standstill.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Meteorological Agency has indicated that rainfall is expected to persist into the afternoon of Monday, June 29, with additional systems moving in from the Benin–Togo coastal belt, raising fears of further flooding.

The Ministry of the Interior, has also urged motorists and pedestrians not to attempt to drive or walk through flooded roads, bridges, or waterways, as floodwaters can rise rapidly and pose serious danger to life and property.
