Community durbars in all the ten regions of Ghana will headline this year’s edition of the annual Safer Internet Day (SID) celebration, scheduled for February 6, 2018.

The community durbars, which will be in collaboration with the Gender Ministry’s Department of Children and the Ministry of Communications, aim at sensitizing citizens on the responsible use of technology in line with cyber security.

The various communities tasked to host the durbars have been encouraged to use the local language that is predominant in the area, in a bid to address the issue of language barrier.

Addressing the media at the launch of the 2018 Safer Internet Day, the Executive Director of the Data Protection Commission, Patricia Adusei-Poku expressed her delight about the progress made so far in the SID Ghana celebration.

“We are excited about the steady progress we have chalked from one region celebration to five regions and now to the whole country. It only confirms SID Ghana partners’ resolve and commitment to create the much needed awareness on internet safety for all,” she disclosed.

(i) Upper West – Wa Children’s Park
