The Heir Apparent to the British Throne and head of the Commonwealth, Prince of Wales, Prince Charles has urged the members of the commonwealth to share best practices and coordinate its response to solve climate change challenges.

According to the Prince of Wales climate changes have been felt by many citizens of the commonwealth and therefore the organization must adopt practical assistance to people in their times of greatest need.

Speaking at the Commonwealth Public Lecture on the theme; “Towards A Common Future”, at the Accra International Conference’s Centre (AICC) Prince Charles said “There it seems to me, tremendous potential for the Commonwealth to share best practice and coordinate its response to this kind of disasters” Prince Charles said.

“Earlier this year in Darwin in Australia northern territory I visited the highly impressive national critical care and trauma response center which deploys world class medical teams and facilities in rapid response to disasters on behalf of the Australian government to my mind at least it offered compelling example of the sort of coordinative response that could be replicated elsewhere in the commonwealth to offer practical assistance to people in their times of greater needs” He added.

He added that although it is essential to prepare for the effect of climate change induced disaster, the Commonwealth must work together to tackle the underlying causes of climate change.

The Prince of Wales stated that that commonwealth is still as vital as it has ever been since its establishment

“…The Commonwealth remains as vital today as it has ever been, it brings us together building bridges between our governments and the people and offering a practical means for working for a brighter future” He added

“… Commonwealth seems to me offers us a vital mechanism to help ensure that it is not poisoned and polluted and that its vitality is not compromised". He added
