Commonwealth awards Roman Ridge School

The Roman Ridge School (TRRS) has emerged victorious as the winner of multiple Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the 2017 Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Essay Competition.

During a Special Awards Ceremony held at the school recently, the Principal of the school. Mrs. Valerie Mainoo congratulated the teachers and student body for participating and winning medals in a competition that “promotes literacy and critical thinking”.

Mr. John Apea, the Africa Head of the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) in the United Kingdom, the organisers of the competition, commended TRRS for “ being a relatively young but dynamic school that consistently punches well above its weight”.

Special messages of congratulations were also made from the podium by the Special Guest, Ghana’s illustrious son and former Supreme Court Judge, Justice V.C.R.A.C Crabbe and and former Minister of Education, Rev. Dr. Joyce R. Aryee, Chair of the Academic Board of Governors, TRRS. Other dignitaries on hand to celebrate with the parents, teachers and students were: Mr. Gideon Commey, Africa Youth Coordinator for the RCS, Mrs. Celine Duros, Director with the innovative Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology and Mrs. Aseye Tamakloe, a Professor at the National Film and Television Institute and global first place winner of the Queens Essay Competition in 1994.
