Collapsed galamsey pit owners declared wanted by police

The owners of the galamsey pit which reportedly led to the death of some 14 galamseyers in Prestea Nsuta have been declared wanted by the police.

Some 17 others are suspected to be trapped in the pit which collapsed yesterday [Monday].

Efforts are underway to retrieve the bodies trapped in the pit.

The District Commander, Superintendent Atsu Dzineku said the Police had began investigations into the incident.

According to him, those “found culpable will be dealt with.” “… We have one Kojo Baah who is the owner of one of the pits. They have formed a joint association carrying that operation in the area. We are looking for them.They are on the wanted list. My divisional Commander was here and some elders also came. We have asked that they produce them for interrogation”.
