The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has advised the graduating Course 4 Trainees at the Police Detective Training Academy to collaborate in the fight against crime as the canker is getting increasingly sophisticated.

According to the CID Boss, in the event covered by MyNewsGH.com, the collaboration was done this way to “engender the sharing of ideas, experiences, and build professional relationships and networks for cooperation and collaboration”.

She encouraged the participants to put their training into good use, to be civil in their dealings and share experiences with their colleagues to enhance the fight against crime and investigations.

“Share the knowledge you have gained with your colleagues, and more importantly, leverage the professional networks you have established so that collectively, we can reduce crime to the barest minimum”, she said, encouraging them to “commit yourselves to duty, execute it with passion and dedication, not forgetting to pay attention to details. Let us fight hard to bring crime to its lowest ebb for this is what our nation expects from us.”

The Commandant of the Detective Training Academy, Supt. Benjamin Affisah commended the participants for their commitment to the course, expressing hope that they will put it to good use in their work, thanking in particular, the CID administration for making it possible.

He said some of the areas they horned the officers’ skills in include criminal procedure, criminal law, crime scene management, customer care, intelligence gathering, anti-human trafficking, child-friendly policing, informant management among others. He said they also undertook training in mobile money fraud and financial crime investigation.

Deserving course participants received awards for excellence and exemplary investigative acumen during the training. The course 4 in line with a previous tradition of former Course participants donated an air condition.

A citation was presented to the CID Boss by the Academy for her contribution to the success of the training as a facilitator and providing cutting-edge leadership to investigations in Ghana since she took over.
