Cocoa farmers asked to adopt modern agriculture practices

Nyinahin (Ash), May 3, GNA - Cocoa farmers in the country have been advised to adopt modern agriculture practices and support the government's mass cocoa spraying exercise to increase production of the crop.

Mr Maxwell Osei-Boadu, Nyinahin District Manager of the Quality Control Division (QCD) of the Ghana cocoa Board (COCOBOD), who gave the advice, noted that the role of cocoa farmers in national development was indispensable.

He was speaking at a forum organised by the Nyinahin district office of the Quality Control Division for cocoa farmers drawn from Anwiafutu, Akantansi, Agogoso and Nyinahin.

Mr Osei-Boadu said the QCD was determined to ensure that quality cocoa beans were always produced by farmers for export to enable the country maintain its prestige as a quality cocoa producing country.
