Cobra found in Drawers of veterinary service lab

A six-foot black cobra was on Thursday found in one of the laboratory drawers of the Koforidua Veterinary Services.

According to the Chief Technical Officer, Mr Sylvester Uriko-Kang, he was breeding some pigs in the laboratory when he spotted the reptile.

He said at about 11:05.am., while working at the laboratory on a disease called trypanosomiasis, which affects pigs and cattle, he heard some noise in one of the drawers and pulled it back only to find the cobra which quickly came out of its shelve.

Mr Uriko-Kang said he jumped from the place and shouted for help which attracted other workers who assisted to kill the reptile.

He appealed to the veterinary Services directorate and the government to renovate the office to avoid any casualty.

Some of the workers in the office told the Ghanaian Times that it was the second time they have killed such snakes at the laboratory and they fear that there are more of such reptiles in the laboratory.
