A 28-year old man who bolted with a GH¢850.00 motorbike he had expressed interest in buying has been remanded in prison custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court.
Emmanuel Berko was charged with stealing and he pleaded not guilty.
He would re-appear on Tuesday, June 19.
Police Detective Sergeant Jonas Adjei told the court presided over by Justice Frank Owusu Afriyie, that the complainant, Francis Oduro, operates a mobile phone repairs workshop at Nyinahin and owns a “Royal” motorbike with registration number M-09 AS 1765.
On May 29, Berko brought his cellular phone to the complainant for repairs and saw the said bike parked with a “For Sale” sign on it.
The accused told the complainant that he wanted to purchase the bike and would like to test ride it to determine if it was in good condition, but in the process absconded with the bike.
The prosecution said calls made to some numbers stored on the cellular phone he had brought for repairs gave him out.
He was traced to Duayaw-Nkwanta, where he was arrested and the motorbike retrieved and brought down to Nyinahin.**
